Dentures & Partials Hampton Roads, VA

For generations, a denture was the only option available to patients with missing teeth. Today there are multiple options available to patients, from today’s cosmetic dentures to permanently secured implant dentures. Advances in techniques, diagnostics, and materials have improved tooth replacement options, making it possible to get back a smile that looks great, feels great, and supports your best possible quality of life.

Reclaim Your Smile with Dentures

If you have a full arch of missing teeth, the dental care team at First Light Dental of Coastal Virginia can work with you to bring back a beautiful, comfortable smile with a custom denture. Matched to your natural appearance, a denture is a removable dental appliance that will give you back the ability to eat, speak and enjoy life once more.

Dr. Harper will evaluate the condition of your oral health and extract teeth if necessary before taking impressions for your new denture. He will work with you to ensure that the final restoration is comfortable and will support your long-term dental health. Regular dental care is important, providing the opportunity to monitor your oral health and the fit of your denture. A slipping or poorly fit denture can lead to irritation of the gums and impact the function of the jaw joint, leading to additional concerns.

Implant Dentures

What is an Implant Denture?

An implant denture is a name for a denture that is permanently attached to the jaw using several strategically placed dental implants. When compared to a traditional removable denture, implant dentures have a significantly higher rate of patient satisfaction.

Benefits of Implant Dentures

  • Better retention, no chance of slippage
  • Permanent restoration – no adhesives needed; can only be removed by a dentist
  • Implants become part of the living bone to minimize bone and gum recession
  • Full replacement of chewing function to enjoy a diet without restrictions
  • More natural look and feel

Most patients who choose implant dentures will receive same-day dentures, also called immediate dentures or dentures in a day. The denture will help the dental implants to heal by acting as a splint. In a limited number of cases, Dr. Harper may be able to incorporate an existing denture into the implant denture.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are similar to a dental bridge and can be either fixed or removable. If the partial denture is fixed, it is either secured in place using dental crowns or dental implants. Learn more
